Here's a new (for me) and frankly delightful discovery from Gianni Brunelli Le Chiuse di Sotto. The 2019 Amor Costante is pleasure to drink, with one glass of wine inviting the next pour. This blend of 80% Merlot and 20% Sangiovese manages an almost full-bodied approach while maintaining terrific balance and elegance. It offers a long list of black and purple fruit aromas with blackberry and plum, plus the additional textural fiber you would expect of those flavors, along with soft spice and smoke. The finish is stitched together by tart fruit flavors and firm tannins. This is a 2,252-bottle release. Drink 2023-2035. (Feb 2022)

We'll sum this one up with a brilliant quote from Wine Advocate's stunning review: "Here's a new (for me) and frankly delightful discovery from Gianni Brunelli Le Chiuse di Sotto. The 2019 Amor Costante is a pleasure to drink, with one glass of wine inviting the next pour." One of the great under-the-radar super Tuscans, trust us, this stuff rocks! Only a few bottles to share, so don't hold back.
About the Producer
Gianni Brunelli, a man of many interests, established Siena's Osteria Le Logge (now one of the top restaurants of the city) in 1977. In 1987, he returned to Montalcino and purchased "Le Chiuse di Sotto", an estate that had belonged to his father, Dino. Brunelli replanted most of the vines in 1989, but left untouched a small plot of older holdings dating back to his father's original 1947 plantings. After Gianni passed away in 2008, his wife Laura, who was already working at the estate, took the reins along with her brother, Adriano.
