Arguably the most prestigious Burgundy house in Volnay, Domaine de la Pousse d’Or has been around since the 1100s, when it was called Bousse d’Or or “Golden Earth”. At one time, the domaine included such notable properties as Romanée-Conti and Clos de Tart (I know, right?!?). By the early 20th century, the estate had fallen into disrepair, eventually resurrected by the legendary Gérard Potel, who acquired it in the 1960s. Under his direction, the estate rose to prominence, becoming the powerhouse that is at once historical and modern Burgundy at the highest level.

These two wines showcase the consistency of quality that the estate sets forth from all of their holdings. One Chambolle Musigny Village that far outperforms its station, sourced from a handful of perfect plots (and some choice premier cru fruit), and another Corton-Bressandes Grand Cru, from 30-50 year old vines on the prestigious hill of Corton. These are exceptional examples of Burgundian modern style – powerful, ripe, and rich, with the structure to develop over the decades. Fair warning! These are very limited, with only a few cases of each. Don’t miss out!

About the Producer

Patrick Landanger purchased this estate in 1997 and acquired more prestigious vineyards in the Cote de Nuits to add to his portfolio. The history of the estate dates back to 1855 when the winery was part of a larger domaine that included Romanee-Conti and Clos de Tart. Patrick Landanger is currently producing red and white wines from 4 Grand Cru vineyards and 12 remier cru sites.
