DeSante Old Vines Field Blend White Napa Valley 2016

Too late, we are SOLD OUT!

David and Katharine DeSante, longtime Napa Valley winemakers for many high-end projects over the years, consider themselves honored to work with these ancient (by Napa standards) vines. “Beyond organic”, this collection of head-trained heritage grape varieties has been dry-farmed without conventional agrichemicals of any type since the mid-1940s. The only fertilizers applied are dried sea kelp. The only fungicides are made from lavender soap, olive oil and garlic extracts.

The youngest vines are 70+ years old with many of the vines exceeding 90 years of age. The varieties include Green Hungarian, Semillon, Sauvignon Vert, Golden Chasselas, Pinot Blanc and others. All of the vines are either planted to the St. George rootstock or on their original vinifera roots. We can tell you ---- THERE IS NOTHING ELSE LIKE THIS WINE. Bottled unfined and unfiltered, with a small amount of the lees intact, the moment you taste this you’ll be in the “epiphany zone” (just made that up), trust us!! Incredible history and pedigree in a $40 wine!! A must!

This intriguing white field blend has exotic aromas of apple tarte tatin and star anise. The palate is round, full and bright – a delicious combination of traits. Roasted pear and succulent green gage plum buoy the deeper honeycomb-like waxy character that arise on the finish. Wonderful freshness, complexity and depth…just wow!!

$239.70 DELIVERED...madness! Only 5 cases to sell! Don’t miss!

About the Producer

David and Katharine DeSante have both been making wine in the valley for a long time. David, a medical student turned winemaker, moved to the valley with Katharine and first took a job at Mondavi and went to study at UC Davis. David and Katharine both got the bug and have consulted for numerous projects around the Valley ever since. Their first vintage of DeSante was 2011.
