Yarra Yering Dry Red Wine No. 2 Yarra Valley 2009 - First Bottle

Reviews

94 Wine Spectator -
Focused, complex, harmonious and distinctive, this red's meaty, savory overtones add depth to the glow of plum, currant and mineral flavors, which all glide easily through the long finish. Shiraz and Viognier. Drink now through 2025. 50 cases imported.
94 James Halliday -
Purple-crimson; the Shiraz/Viognier co-fermentation of Dry Red No. 2 has worked its usual magic; the wine is wonderfully lively, yet complex, with elegance and intensity to its mix of spice, red and black fruits, fine tannins and quality oak. All this and more at 13.5% alcohol.

An Australian tip o’ the cap to the wines of Cote Rotie, where viognier co-ferments with the dominant syrah grape (or here, shiraz) to extract color and add layers of complexity.

About the Producer

Yarra Yering is one of the oldest and most beautiful vineyards in Victoria's Yarra Valley with 28 hectares of vines located at the foot of the Warramate Hills. Established in 1969 by Dr. Bailey Carrodus, the 1973 vintage saw the production of the first vintage of Dry Red Wine No. 1 and Dry Red Wine No. 2. Yarra Yering quickly gained an international reputation for quality and individuality and paved the way for other Yarra Valley wineries.
