Kauzo means “place” in Esperanto. Located just south of Mendoza in the foothills of the majestic Andes Mountains, this wine hits all the targets for the malbec grape. It's blended from the two most important sub regions in the area, a place that Nicolas Catena first planted his flag, Altamira and La Consulta, at the base of the Andes. Aromas of lilac and plum tarts, with black cherry cola and a juicy mid-palate that leads into a spicy and creamy finish. The wine is pleasantly complex for this price, with decidedly balanced notes of fruit, flowers, oak and spice all carefully integrated into a supple offering with the legs to still be standing 8 years from now.
Altamira (3600 feet) and La Consulta (2950 feet) are the Valle de Uco vineyards “co-fermented” for this 100% rocking malbec. Primary fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks, with secondary in second use oak barrels. The wine ages in barrel for up to 12 months prior to bottling. Mendoza malbecs have earned a reputation for producing some of the highest quality for dollar wines in the world. This exciting new producer builds upon that tradition!
PAIRING IDEAS: If you haven’t jumped on the “Smashburger” trend by now… consider this your cue. The crusty, charred bits of beef are an ideal match for this juicy core of deliciousness.
MUSIC SUGGESTIONS: Perhaps the greatest Hair Metal anthem, Twisted Sister’s “I Wanna Rock” should do the trick.

James Suckling
An energetic, linear malbec with blackberry, mineral and some white-cedar undertones. It's medium-bodied with fine tannins and a bright finish. Co-fermented malbec from La Consulta and Altamira. Drink now.
