Alain Girard & Fils L'Infidele Sancerre Blanc 2019

Sauvignon Blanc  |  France

Too late, we are SOLD OUT!

Given the rates of inflation and the hot run Sancerre has been on the last 10 years, finding decent Sancerre under $30 is a massive challenge...finding REALLY GOOD, artisan Sancerre, made in tiny quantities for under $30 is a freakin' miracle! We can't seem to keep enough Sancerre around for you thirsty people, so we expect this small parcel of the awesome ‘19 to FLY OUT!

Just south of the village of Sancerre lies Domaine des Brosses (est. 1875) and brothers, Anthony and Nicolas, are making beautiful, fresh, flinty sauvignon blanc from a wide range of terroir throughout the region. We LOVE the ‘19 (so will you!) at this tasty little price — it’s full of crisp, stony, cool-water freshness, grapefruit and white stone fruits, with just the right touch of tropicality and a richness to the palate. It's the perfect balance of the crisp, grapefruit and stony mineral style and the more unctuous, tropical style with a small amount of neutral oak aging which gives this its weight and texture. We love the balance and complexity here. If you know, you know, we guess!

Order some sushi/sashimi (or make it yourself) and check out the fantastic way it pairs up. We like a little side of ponzu, too, for all the lemony goodness. OK, ‘nuff said – get it while we have it!

Food ideas: As noted, sushi/sashimi above. Goldbelly has some kits you can order and DIY it, which makes a good evening of food and wine if we do say so!

Music: Electric Six has a very fun song called “Synthesizer” that we love and gets us in the mood to drink sauvignon blanc! Grab an ice bucket, find a porch or a pool and kick your feet up, you deserve it.

About the Producer

“Domaine des Brosses was established in 1875 and lies just south of the town of Sancerre. The Girard family modernized the winery and vineyards when they bought the estate in 1973. Nicolas Girard has now taken over his father's 27 acres estate and, with his brother Anthony, is making wines that are fresh, modern and aromatic. Both the brothers have traveled extensively throughout the wine world, and have used the knowledge and experience acquired to underpin the style of their classic Sancerre.”
