Continuum Proprietary Red Sage Mountain Vineyard 2019
2019, following the excellent 2018s, is THE mega-serious vintage to buy for the best Napa wines, and today we have a rockstar in the building. We've been following closely the progression of this special vineyard perched on the top of Pritchard Hill, and as the vines are now at prime age, Tim Mondavi is making the greatest of his life. On top of all that, this is a special collectors label from Continuum. As a family, they achieved 100 consecutive harvests and left a celebratory easter egg on the label. It's easier to find when the bottle is in your hands!
Did you see that score? Trust your wine merchant — it is ALL THAT. You need this in your cellar. Soaring with power and opulence, it’s like sliding into a Mercedes Maybach – so fine, silky and finessed, with so much dark fruit, tobacco, graphite (you might think you’re drinking 1st Growth Bordeaux, really) and lavish, mouthcoating texture...hints of mocha and exotic spice, but all in perfect balance. Just...WOW!
We wish we had more... This will go to the quickest fingers!
PAIRING IDEAS: This deserves something special – duck breasts? Leg of Lamb? The finest cut from Flannery Meats, grilled and topped with a bit of good truffle butter? YES!
MUSIC SUGGESTIONS: When we think of any Mondavi...we think, Elvis. Jam out to any one of the King of Rock and Roll’s albums, but on this rainy Monday morning, we’re especially feeling “Suspicious Minds”!
