Hertelendy Cabernet Sauvignon 2014 - First Bottle

Reviews

96 Robert Parker -
The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon, which is 76% Cabernet Sauvignon, 11% Petit Verdot, and the rest Merlot, Malbec and Cabernet Franc, was aged 23 months in French oak. It has an opaque purple/black color and rich creme de cassis and blackberry fruit as well as some charcoal and graphite. Full-bodied, impressive, and a truly compelling example of Cabernet Sauvignon, this should hit its stride in another 4-5 years and last for three decades or more. It is extra special, but be forewarned - the bottle might be the heaviest bottle I've ever picked up during a tasting, so if you have shoulder issues, caveat emptor.

Too late, we are SOLD OUT!

When Robert Parker weighs in on a wine these days, you listen. We scrambled to snag a few bottles of this powerful 96-pointer, and you are some of the lucky few to get the offer! If you know and love the killer Chappellet wines, Phillip Corallo-Titus is the mind behind those and consults with Hertelendy. This “truly compelling” (RP), blockbuster Cabernet may well be a centerpiece in your cellar (and it will last for decades), and will blow you away with its deep, dark richness and complexity. It did for us!

Ralph Hertelendy has a fascinating history and vision for his eponymous winery...read a bit about it HERE, if you like. Sourced from a four acre estate vineyard planted in 1993, just below the Howell Mountain AVA line (next to Viader), along with several other top vineyard sites in Oakville, Silverado Bench, Pritchard Hill, and Coombsville, this drinks like a perfect mix of mountain and valley cabernet. We’re stoked to be able to offer this to you (at a very good price, too), please let us know ASAP as we literally have but a few bottles! We love turning you guys on to cool new projects like this!

**This is packaged in a MASSIVE heavy bottle, FYI, if badass packaging is your thing!

About the Producer

Ralph Hertelendy is a young, ambitious wine lover who went from making wine in his basement to approaching Phillip Titus and starting his own brand 5 years ago. Hertelendy Vineyards sources its fruit, not just from our 4+ acre mountainside 1365 ft elevation “Rockwell Ridge” estate vineyard (35 ft below the Howell Mountain AVA demarcation line and neighbor of Viader) planted in 1993, but also from ultra premium vineyards around the Napa Valley including areas like Oakville, Atlas Peak, Pritchard Hill, Silverado Bench, Coombsville, and the Russian River Valley for our Chardonnay.
