Domaine Zind Humbrecht Riesling (Dry) Roche Granitique 2019 - First Bottle

Reviews

94 James Suckling -
So effusive and vibrant, yet also blessed with great aromatic charm, this has a stunning combination of pineapple juiciness and smoky character. Then comes the very long, precise finish that?s so stony. From biodynamically grown grapes. Drink or hold.

If you're looking for broad, generous, and velvety, you just found it. These vines are slowly penetrated by a biotite type of granite that accelerates root growth and influences the ripening cycle (in a good way)—classic citrusy aromas with a touch of grilled pineapple. A must-have for drinking now or in 3 years.

About the Producer

The Humbrecht family has cultivated their vines in the great terroirs of Alsace since 1620. The expression of terroir is reinforced by cultivating the vines organically and according to biodynamic principles of over 100 acres of prime vineyards. Winemaker Olivier Humbrecht is one of the only winemakers in the world with an MW and his approach is always to let the terroir shine above all else. Ripe, balanced, and concentrated grapes enable him to eliminate any vinification techniques that modify the initial harmony of each terroir. To put it simply, Zind Humbrecht is one of the most revered and respected estates in the entire world producing some of the most exciting wines today in its storied history. -- The wine originates from vines planted in the '90s and in 2001 in the Grand Cru Brand. The soil type is a biotite of granite containing lots of black mica.
