Pelassa Roero Riserva Antaniolo 2017
Piemonte enthusiasts will know Roero as the DOCG appellation just outside of Barolo to the north of Alba, with sandier soils and rocking delicious nebbiolo wines that are MUCH easier on the wallet than the big gun Barolos. Not to mention more accessible for drinking earlier! Roero’s landscape – with its rolling hills, steep vineyards and unique sandy soils – produces some of Italy’s most intriguing wines, and PELASSA is at the top of the list!!
Dating back to 1960, Pelassa has become a quiet “insider” nebbiolo producer that those in the know scoop up whenever they can. US TOO! The Riserva is singing with bright sweet red fruits, rich yet soft tannin, and a surprisingly complex, layered flavor profile, with mineral and spicy components.
Awesome juice + PRICE! While it lasts...!
PAIRING IDEAS: Fantastic with a garlic-laden, roasted tomato pasta dish — use grilled shrimp, or sausage, or a mess of grilled veggies like zucchini or squash, even, with a generous grating of parmesan.
MUSIC SUGGESTIONS: “Kick Out The Jams” by The Presidents of the United States gets your blood flowing!
