Giodo La Quinta Tuscany IGT 2019 - First Bottle

Reviews

96 Decanter World Wine Awards -
A classic southern Tuscany nose that exhibits black fruit, terracotta, tapenade and earth. The palate is bold, chewy with fine acids and plenty of energy.
94 Robert Parker's Wine Advocate -
The Giodo 2019 La Quinta is a pure expression of Sangiovese that sees less aging time compared to a Brunello (although the fruit is basically the same). The wine gives us a fascinating window onto a grape and a territory presented without all the extra bells and whistles required by the top-tier appellation of Montalcino. La Quinta gives us freshness and brightness with lots of dried cherry, redcurrant, mild spice and fresh acidity. There is a fun hint of dried mint and pressed violets on the close. A wine like this makes me very excited to taste the 2019 Brunellos when they are ready.
94 James Suckling -
This is rich and perfumed on the nose with sweet-berry, rose-hip and sandalwood character. Full-bodied with a round, juicy palate of lots of ripe-berry and cedar undertones. Succulent and tangy at the end. Very enticing now. but will be even better in 2023.

Too late, we are SOLD OUT!

You can think of this wine the same way you do Brunello – 100% Sangiovese, from just outside the official appellation, farmed in the same meticulous way as his $150+ Brunello, where Ferrini is free to make the best blends possible free of the strict rules of Montalcino proper. We scooped up his 96-point Tuscan sensation and are offering it for what is the best price in the USA! Free shipping on 3 to boot -- you won't find a better deal while we have it!

In 2002, after scouring Italy, Carlo bought a 25-acre property in Montalcino between Sant’Angelo in Colle and Sant’Antimo and planted six acres of Sangiovese to 15 different clones. The vineyard is a treasure, being dubbed by Wine Spectator as one of Montalcino's "best kept secrets". Today the secret is out!

Gorgeous. Precise, concentrated, and so deftly balanced. We LOVE it. The moment it hits your palate, you know you’re into something special, it just embraces you in a Tuscan hug of warm cherry, spice and sweet berry. Incredibly long and complex, with such a wonderful texture. A MUST for cellaring, too - get enough to stash some for a few years at least!!

This is a showstopper! 15 CASES and that’s it!

PAIRING IDEAS: Pasta, of course!! Everyone loves bolognese, so just go ahead and do it. Find a recipe you like and try our little trick - add a splash of colutura, the Italian version of fish sauce (made with anchovies) for an umami-bomb of extra flavor.

MUSIC SUGGESTIONS: How about some bluegrass today? Bring out the high tones and floral complexity with a driving tune by the legendary Doc Watson and David "The Dawg" Grisman. Try "Blue Grass Stomp" from their album Doc & Dawg for a display of musical wizardry by masters of their craft. Fire this tune up and tell us if it doesn't alter the way this wine tastes! Amazing!
