“Three be the things I shall never attain: Envy, content, and sufficient champagne.” -- Dorothy Parker

AMEN! We ALL need good bubbly around for, well, any occasion, and today is IT. What a price! While it might say non-vintage on the label, this wine is 100% vintage Champagne from the 2015 vintage! The blend is 60% pinot noir and 40% chardonnay, all sourced from the family's Premier Cru vineyards around the winery in the Vallee de la Marne.

Utterly singing right now. So aromatic! With a modest 5 gram dosage, this beam of light carries honeysuckle, crisp Bosc pears, Pink Lady apples, yuzu and an amazing hit of toastiness. Perfectly integrated minerality make this one of the most exciting wine we've ever sold from Berthelot! Fine mousse and zingy freshness seals the deal. Speaking of deal, we only have 25 cases...and it will FLY!

PAIRING IDEAS: Smoked trout, good toasted bread, creme fraiche, a sprinkle of chives maybe, or caviar if you want to go all fancy. You'll love the interplay between the yuzu/ctirus and the smoked trout. Also, the interplay between the caviar and the minerality in the Champagne is always mind-boggling.

MUSIC SUGGESTIONS: Something different? Try Black Country’s “Ants From Up There” for a twist. “Chaos Space Machine” is also a good start, but know that you are in for an experience!

About the Producer

In Dizy, a village near Epernay, in the Vallee de la Marne, Paul Berthelot created a Champagne house guided by the principles of the founder, Emile Berthelot. Paul was the hospitality director from 1940 to 2000 and Jacques was responsible of the organization of the vineyard and its development since 1960. The Domaine has close to 40 acres of vineyards between Dizy and Avenay, classified Premier Cru, and also Aÿ which is classified Grand Cru. Pinot noir and Chardonnay are the majority in roughly equal parts.
