Clemens Busch Riesling (Dry) Pundericher Marienburg Fahrlay GG 2019
“The 2019 vintage is the best vintage I have ever tasted for German riesling in my four-decade career.” - Stuart Pigott, author and reviewer for James Suckling
If the word “crystalline” gets your blood moving when talking about wine, do ANYTHING to grab a few of these. The 2019s from Clemens Busch are nothing short of extraordinary. The Marienburg Fahrlay Grosse Gewachs (GG) is LITERALLY lip-smacking, it’s so pure and fine and otherworldly, you will wonder why it took you so long to have this experience. One of the great white wines made on this planet!
Organic. Biodynamic. No one else on the Mosel makes wines like these - they’re unique and riveting and have gained quite a following, not to mention their extreme rarity! We knew we were onto something when all of our winemaker friends starting swooping these up when we first started bringing them in. They are truly something special. We really can’t argue with Stephen Reinhardt’s Wine Advocate review one bit (see below), this is expansive, textured, pure and also fantastically flinty and dry. Just...wow!
PAIRING IDEAS: OK, we’re going to be very direct with this one. Raw scallops, specifically, “hotate” sushi. Bring this to your all-time best sushi place and pair it with an order of hotate. Try it with everything else on the menu too, like seared tuna, hamachi collar, etc. But man! Hotate and GG Riesling are amazing!
MUSIC SUGGESTIONS: P!nk is coming to Bottlerock 2022, and frankly, we love that OLD song from our childhoods, “Get This Party Started”, for this wine! Yes!
