Domaine Marc Colin Chassagne-Montrachet Les Champs Gains Premier Cru 2018 - First Bottle

Reviews

92-94 Vinous -
The 2018 Chassagne-Montrachet Les Champs Gain 1er Cru, which comes from vines located toward the bottom of the slope and high in calcaire, has an intense bouquet with scents of citrus lemon, crushed pebbles and suggestions of marmalade and wax resin, all very focused. The well-balanced palate delivers a gorgeous opening of blood orange and quince. Very complex, with outstanding mineralité toward the compelling finish. This is a stunning Chassagne-Montrachet from Damien Colin. Highly recommended.
91-94 Jasper Morris, Inside Burgundy -
Fine attractive pale lemon and lime. There is some delicacy along with the muscle, a reductive note on the palate, a little extra flesh at the back before being brought back to a controlled lime-infused finish.
91-93 Robert Parker's Wine Advocate -
The 2018 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Champs Gain is showing nicely, exhibiting notions of white currant, fresh peach, almond paste and ripe citrus. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, open-knit but incisive, with good underlying tension and a mouthwatering finish. I suspect it will come together further with additional élevage.

"I was again very impressed with the quality I found and the domaine just seems to continue to go from strength to strength." Allen Meadows, Burghound

We couldn't agree more! These wines are simply stunning and bursting at the seams with mineral goodness and charm, especially in a warm vintage like 2018. The whites are perfectly judged, never getting overripe or flabby, with wonderful natural tension and nervousness. As Neal Martin of Vinous Media said, "This is a stunning Chassagne-Montrachet from Damien Colin. Highly recommended."

About the Producer

Domaine Marc Colin was founded in 1970 by Marc Colin and his wife Michele. The Domaine spans 15 hectares encompassing 26 appellations in St. Aubin, Chassagne, Puligny and Santenay and certain parcels have been in the family for more than 100 years. All of the domaines vineyards are situated on finely pitched hillsides resulting in wines with savory minerality and luster. Today the Domaine is ran by the next generation, Joseph, Caroline and Damien, the children of Marc and Michele. The domaine farms sustainably and organically, with most of the vineyards consisting of older vines, and clay-limestones soils that are just some of the shining qualities of this domaine.
