Siduri Pinot Noir Barbieri Vineyard Russian River Valley 2016 - First Bottle

Reviews

93 Wine Spectator -
Exhibits a generous core of fleshy blackberry and wild berry flavors, giving this depth and dimension. Finishes with a long, elegant, juicy aftertaste. Drink now through 2028. 386 cases made
93 Robert Parker's Wine Advocate -
Pale ruby-purple colored, the 2016 Pinot Noir Barbieri Vineyard offers notions of red roses and baked cherries with hints of cranberry sauce and tilled soil plus a waft of mossy bark. Medium-bodied with a plush, delicate frame of soft tannins and background acid, it fills the palate with earthy and red fruit layers, finishing long and savory. 4,632 cases were made.
93 Vinous -
Sweet tobacco, earthiness, leather, and smoke all open up in the 2016 Pinot Noir Barbieri Vineyard. This is an especially dark, meaty style, but it all works very nicely. I would give the 2016 a few more months in bottle as there is quite a bit of tannin that needs time to soften. The Barbieri speaks with tons of character.
92 Wine Enthusiast -
This wine offers a depth of aromatic intensity and is expansive in velvety tannin. Spicy cherry, strawberry and a compelling thread of cola highlight a succulence on the midpalate that lingers leisurely on the finish.
92 Jeb Dunnuck -
From what used to be an old Zinfandel Vineyard, the 2016 Pinot Noir Barbieri Vineyard is one of the bigger, richer wines in the portfolio. Possessing medium to full body, loads of sweet fruit, a rounded, sexy texture and classic notes of black cherries, leafy herbs, and gravelly, earthy minerality, it’s already hard to resist yet should easily keep for 6-7 years.

Check out winemaker Matt Revelette’s resume: it reads like our dream Sonoma/Napa cellar -- Sojourn Cellars, Williams Selyem, Kosta Browne, Quintessa and Mending Wall, to name a few! Matt’s ‘16 Barbieri Vineyard (on Olivet Lane in the heart of the RRV) is a showstopper!

We got this direct from the winery, and it is drinking utterly perfectly right now. With a few years in bottle, it has only gotten better and better, with harmony and balance among all the red and blue fruits, cola, leather, cranberry and baking spice...a COMPLETE wine. Such an amazing price, too!

Check out the reviews below...a better buy is not to be found! While it lasts!!

PAIRING IDEAS: Did you know you can grill pork shoulder just like a steak? Cut some big slices and marinate in apple juice, balsamic, a little mustard, pepper, and EVOO, and grill it! So good with this wine!

MUSIC SUGGESTIONS: Get a little rowdy with some old Social Distortion. The wine will tell you stories while the road-tested, melodic Mike Ness does too.

About the Producer

Siduri was an idea generated by Adam Lee and Dianna Novy who left their native Texas land for Sonoma County wine country. They spent many years working and learing at a small family owned winery and once they felt they had enough knowledge under their belt, they created Siduri and released their first wines in 1994. Siduri is named for Lee's and Novy's love for Pinot and for the Babylonian goddess of wine. Siduri specailizes in cool-climate pinot noir, and producing both single vineayrd and AVA level wines. Today, Matt Revelette is the winemaker behind Siduri. He has a suberb history of working at some amazing wineries like Sojourn Cellars, Williams Selyem, Kosta Browne, Quintessa and Mending Wall.
