From eastern France near the border with Switzerland, Jura is an appellation with a rich history and its reds, whites and sparkling wines are having a real comeback in the last decade. And it's reds like this that make the case for such a comeback.

The Trio blend is a classic Jura red blend of trousseau, poulsard, and pinot noir. Mostly trousseau, this blend is a bit more muscular and deep than a lot of reds we've tried from Jura which can be a bit light and lean. While this does need a bit of coaxing in the glass to fend off a tiny bit of reduction, what lies underneath with a vigorous swirl or a quick decant is simply splendid. This is the kind of wine you'll want to drink while you cozy up by the fireplace and start watching Yellowstone.

Christmas spice, tart cherry and wild herbs are what dominate here but there is plenty of earth, red berry and mineral to keep you coming back to the glass to find something new with every sip.

About the Producer

Domain Berthet-Bondet is a husband and wife team that purchased some vineyard land after having worked in the region. The vineyard had been untouched for fifty years and showed potential. The duo has since increased the size of their Domaine to 37 acres and certified organic. Chantal and Jean Berthet-Bondet didn't come from winemaking families but from agronomic backgrounds but had learned through their experiences the skills of winemaking. Their daughter, Helene, has since taken over the reins of this estate. This wine is called "The Trio" because of the three varietals of grapes that are blended into this wine, Trousseau, Poulsard, and Pinot Noir. These three varieties create a soft, bright and red-fruited wine with balanced tannins that would be perfect for your Thanksgiving or Christmas meals.
