Pierre Moncuit Blanc de Blancs Brut Grand Cru 2008
Located in Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, where grand cru chardonnay reigns supreme, Nicole Moncuit owns some of the oldest vines along the entire Cote with an average age of 45 years. For those in the know, Moncuit is a must-have for anyone serious about Blanc de Blancs. This tiny grower has officially hit superstar status and we can't keep these in stock whenever we get some -- the 2006 we sold earlier this year disappeared in a flash…
The female winemaking touch is evident alongside the magic that happens in Mesnil with incredible precision and clear-cut minerality, gorgeous texture and a sense of effortless power. It spent almost 11 years on the lees, being disgorged in November of 2020 which gives this polished-yet-powerful vintage grand cru bubbly loads of puff pastry, baker's yeast, brioche, wildflowers and aromatic spices just incredible complexity and length. See Galloni's note below, but be sure to snag some while we have it at this fantastic price!
PAIRING IDEAS: We go with fried chicken and bubbly a lot, because...it’s fried chicken!! Seriously, though, this pairing is amazing, whether you make it at home or snag some from your favorite restaurant
MUSIC SUGGESTIONS: Beastie Boys' “Paul’s Boutique” of course!
