Too late, we are SOLD OUT!

Quite simply, Paul Bara epitomizes all that is wonderful about old world, hand-crafted grower Champagne. First brought to the attention of Americans by beloved importer Kermit Lynch, the house has quickly become THE house in the Bouzy region, making some of the most enticing grand cru, pinot noir based Champagnes in the world.

One of the 28 members of the “Special Club” (Club Trésors), Paul Bara is arguably its finest, and we are thrilled to have a few cases to offer, fresh off the container from France at this SUPERB pricing. Like all of Paul Bara’s releases, pinot noir is the back-bone of their Special Club. Production is strictly old-school, with only free run and first press juice used, fermentation in small cement tanks, and aging and riddling in cold, extremely deep cellars for several years. Nothing is released until ready. Each year, the Special Club represents the pinnacle of the Bara process and style. Ultra-limited!!

The Brut is redolent of white stone fruits, toasted chestnuts (over an open fire of course), hazelnut butter, blood orange, brioche and white tea leaves, with a delicacy and refinement that assumes something twice the price. It has a fine line of acidity cutting through it with a long, minerally finish. An incredible price on this rare wine from a legend! Wow!

About the Producer

The Bara property was built in 1860. In the beginning, it was a farm with stables, a cow shed, a sheep pen and a cellar; however, in 1965, the barn was transformed into a press room and a winery. Paul Bara, the father of today's owner Chantale, was the first of the dynasty to sell champagne under the brand of the same name in the 1950s. In 1975, the Bara champagne house innovatively became one of the first to export its champagnes to the United States, long before "grower Champagne" was a thing.
