Failla Occidental Ridge Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast 2019 - First Bottle

Reviews

96 Vinous -
The 2019 Pinot Noir Occidental Ridge Vineyard is one of the highlights in this range, as it has been in the past. Bright and punchy, with superb definition, the Occidental Ridge possesses superb depth from start to finish. Dark cherry, plum, lavender, spice and menthol race across the palate. This is one of the more exuberant wines in the lineup, and yet all the elements are so well balanced. Time in the glass brings out a whole range of floral and savory accents that are quite attractive.
94 Jeb Dunnuck -
Lots of ripe, darker herbs, scorched earth, and both red and black fruits emerge from the 2019 Pinot Noir Occidental Ridge, a medium to full-bodied Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir that's certainly one of the biggest and richest in the lineup. Beautifully textured yet always balanced and elegant, with terrific tannins, it's ideal for enjoying over the coming 7-8 years, if not a decade.

About the Producer

The history of Failla is a story about passion, perseverance and trial and error. Ehren Jordan's first vintage was of Alban Viognier and Que Syrah Syrah. Ehren loves to experiment with his favorite varietals, allowing each to showcase their different characteristics in different climates. Failla purchases fruit from some world class vineyards and their eleven acres are planted with Syrah, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Ehren has since expanded to Oregon's Eola-Amity AVA for emphasis on Pinot Noir and more recently Gamay.
