The 2019 Gevrey-Chambertin Lavaux Saint-Jacques 1er Cru has a very mineral-driven, terroir-expressive bouquet that displays exquisite definition. Not powerful per se, yet incredibly focused, with a surfeit of finesse. The palate is strict, linear and quite saline; a distinctive estuarine element defines the finish, and hints of Japanese nori and oyster shell linger on the aftertaste. The kind of wine you want to keep returning to. Alas, there were just three barrels this year instead of the usual five. Wines like this challenge the whole notion of this vineyard being a Premier Cru because it outperforms many Grand Crus.

The 2019 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Lavaux Saint-Jacques is beautiful, bursting with aromas of plums and wild berries mingled with peonies, orange rind, rose petals and spices. Medium to full-bodied, ample and velvety, it's layered and perfumed, with bright acids, beautifully refined tannins and a long, penetrating finish.

Claude Dugat Gevrey-Chambertin Lavaux St. Jacques 1er Cru 2019
Pinot Noir | France
VN94-96, WA95, BH91-94
Too late, we are SOLD OUT!
Claude Dugat is on a plane of his own and these 2019s are simply mind-blowing. We received just two bottles of his famous LSJ, one of my all-time favorite premier crus.
About the Producer
The Dugat family can trace their roots in Gevrey back to the 19th century, it wasn't until 1955 when Claude's father Maurice purchased and transformed the property where the family domaine was born. Claude Dugat has long been a respected and beloved figure.
