My single favorite 1er Cru in Morey, Millades consistently delivers incredible wines. In 2019 (a vintage with some of the best young reds I have tasted in my career), this wine drinks at the Grand cru level -- maybe because it is directly adjacent to the great Clos Saint Denis, or perhaps it's the old vine material farmed by hand just a short walk from Raphet's beautiful new winery, just across the RN-74. Either way, it's bangin'!

“Domaine Gerard Raphet was established in the 1920's and has been producing outstanding Burgundy since then. Gerard Raphet is a Burgundy lover's Burgundy. Don't be fooled by the delicate ruby color, their wines are packed with forceful intensity. Highly sought after, Raphet Burdungy shows what great, age-worthy, old vine Burgundy can do. Winemaking has been a passed down tradition of this family, with none of the Raphets ever going to enology school. The winery is now at the helm of Gerard and his daughter Marion who also helps out in the cellar.”
