Lavaux St. Jacques is an extremely sought-after bottling from Raphet with an always distinctive Gevrey experience. The aromas alone are enough to bring goosebumps to my skin -- this is hyper-expressive with red flowers, plum skin, redwood bark and Turkish spices. Licorice and pure red berry flavors are explosive, and tightly wound around a core of brilliantly bright acidity and integrated tannins. Lovely stuff!
About the Producer
Domaine Gerard Raphet was established in the 1920's and has been producing outstanding Burgundy since then. Gerard Raphet is a Burgundy lover's Burgundy. Don't be fooled by the delicate ruby color, their wines are packed with forceful intensity. Highly sought after, Raphet Burdungy shows what great, age-worthy, old vine Burgundy can do. Winemaking has been a passed down tradition of this family, with none of the Raphets ever going to enology school. The winery is now at the helm of Gerard and his daughter Marion who also helps out in the cellar.
