98 James Suckling -
Read
Just a hint of funk (from reduction), but this is a deep and complex mineral monument that has been built to last. The pineapple and papaya only comes out on the palate, which is enormously deep and very silky with a lot of spicy notes. Then a huge wave of minerals crashes over you, yet the final impression is light and bright. From organically grown grapes. Drink or hold.

About the Producer
The Wagners have been growing wine for nine generations and Daniel Wagner has been responsible for the wines since the early 1990s. The foundation stone of the Wagnerian court was laid in 1845 and the earlier generations turned the classic mixed operation into a well-known winery which helped the Hollberg and Heerkretz vineyards gain national importance in the first decades of the 20th century. The fruits of this passion for wine show up every year in a wine that is stimulatingly fresh and clear on one hand and challenging complex and concentrated on the other hand.
