Weingut Prinz Riesling (Dry) Schönhell GG 2019

Riesling  |  Germany

Too late, we are SOLD OUT!

The estate by owned Sabine and Fred Prinz, located in the Rheingau commune of Hallgarten, is the fastest-rising star in the region. Fred Prinz made a name for himself as Germany’s greatest “garage” winemaker, while maintaining his day job as the enologist at the Rheingau's largest estate, Kloster Eberbach. Mr. Prinz is now devoting his efforts full time to his own estate, having increased his vineyard ownership to 11.1 hectare, 90% of which is Riesling.

The organically-grown grapes for this wine were harvested on September 25th in the original pieces of Schönhell. Deep, slightly sandy, but also stony loam-loess soils predominate here. The vineyard itself is oriented directly to the south and slopes, with good exposure. The grapes for this wine come from thinned vines that were planted in 1970! Must be tasted to be believed.

Simply stunning!! ONLY 10 CASES! Don't miss...!

PAIRING IDEAS: Our minds always go to pork for Riesling, but for this brilliant wine, we need something more minimalist, to let the wine's minerality and intense flavors shine. A Lyonnaise salad would be perfect, seared fish, or even a chicken piccata or saltimbocca. OK, we’re hungry now.

MUSIC SUGGESTIONS: This fresh, crisp Riesling deserve some upbeat songs! We listen to the "Feeling Happy" Amazon Music station in the office regularly, and naturally, Pharrell's "Happy'" is on that list.
