Too late, we are SOLD OUT!

97 points from Wine Enthusiast for the 2017 vintage! The 2018 Les Clos Grand Cru from Besson is equally spectacular, if not a hair better. Congrats to Camille Besson -- the recipient of the GJPV Bourgogne Young Talent award in 2018, a huge honor to be recognized as the top young talent in all of Chablis! She leads the winemaking at this 4th generation family-run winery, and we are stoked to be one of the few places in the U.S. to even have this!

With holdings of just one-third of an acre in Les Clos, their crown jewel vines, which are mid-slope in the Clos and constitute just 5 rows, are something that the winery truly treasures. Under 1,000 bottles are produced every year so we are honored to have any at all to sell, especially at this price. There is no new oak here to hide the gorgeous minerality and concentration that only this vineyard can provide. Since the production is so small, this wine is rarely submitted for scores, except for last year (the first time they ever submitted their treasured Les Clos) when it garnered a 97 from Wine Enthusiast. We can assure you, this 2018 is as good or better!

One caveat! As noted above, this is crazy-limited...first come, first served…!

PAIRING IDEAS: I just bought an oyster shucking machine, so the timing on this could not be better. Chablis and oysters is magic, of course, any way you do them - a little mignonette, or just a squeeze of lemon... Just make sure you keep as much of the briny juice as you can for each slurp!

MUSIC SUGGESTIONS: ABBA. That is all!

About the Producer

Domaine Besson is a perfect example, with a history extending back to 1902 and spanning four generations of winemaking. In 1902, Eugène Besson planted 7.58 hectares off vines in Chablis. Today his grandson, Alain, owns the Domaine. Alain’s daughter Camille received her diploma of oenology in 2013 and leads their winemaking efforts. Like most Burgundy growers, Alain holds a hearty respect for the land. He uses a minimum of sprays and fertilizers and takes a non-interventionist approach to farming. He secured some fantastic parcels over the years, expanding to 21+ hectares of Chablis, Petit Chablis, Chablis Premier Cru and Chablis Grand Cru. They produce two Grand Crus, one from Vaudésir and the other from a tiny plot of vines smack dab in the middle of the legendary Le Clos vineyard.
