Livio Sassetti Brunello di Montalcino Pertimalli Riserva 2007 - First Bottle

Reviews

93 Wine Spectator -
Aromatic, with aromas and flavors of cedar, sandalwood, tobacco and leather surrounding a core of cherry and strawberry fruit. Firmly structured, with a long, refined finish. Best from 2015 through 2030. 300 cases imported.
93 James Suckling -
Dried fruits on the nose, with an intensity and decadence. Full and chewy, with tannins and ripe fruit. A little raisiny in the end, but impressive. This still needs at least three to four years of bottle age.

About the Producer

Four generations of the Sassetti family have made wine in the picturesque town of Montalcino. In 1967, Livio was among the founders of the Consorzio del Brunello di Montalcino, which was the same year that the DOCG system was written into law. Faithful to the teachings of his family, Livio has expanded nad renewed the vineayrds while also modernizing the winery. In 1999, they acquired a small property in Colle Argento, in the Valdobbiadene Prosecco DOCG region. Today, the estates are managed by Lorenzo Sassetti, Livios son and fourth generation family member. All of Lorenzos wines have deep roots in their respective terroirs, preserving their traditional features. The wines are aromatic and powerful that are smooth on the palatte.
