Cordella Brunello di Montalcino Riserva 2015 - First Bottle

Reviews

96 James Suckling -
Unique ripe-peach character to the cherry and currant undertones. Lots of flowers. A pungent nose! Full-bodied with layers of fruit and creamy, refined tannins that open up at the end of the palate. It goes on for minutes. Spicy and crunchy at the end. Drink after 2023.

Too late, we are SOLD OUT!

GET READY to be stunned by this - we were! The price, yes, of course, but man, this wine just stands out in a crowd, with incredible aromatics, depth and complexity, wonderful potpourri fruit and cherries, and just a fantastic length (honestly, much as the review gushes about it!). 50% OFF! Crazy...don’t miss!!

How did we not know this wine before last week? Cordella started in 1998 strictly in the vineyard business, selling grapes to top producers. As often happens in the wine world, younger daughter Maddalena Cordella wanted to make wine, and the rest is history. The estate is southeast from Montalcino hill towards the village of Torrenieri, in the Val D’Orcia, at an average elevation of 1,000 feet above sea level and located on a gently sloping vineyard of sand and clay. The vineyards are certified organic and are planted to a high vine density, which creates an environment for stressed vines (this is a good thing!) and naturally reduces yields. This estate also has a wonderful restaurant and hotel on site for the ultimate Tuscan experience.

As you can see, we scored an amazing parcel right before the 96-point score!! This price will not be seen again! $150 for a 3-pack with free ground shipping! First come, first served!

PAIRING IDEAS: I’d be super happy eating probably my favorite pasta of all time -- Cacio e Pepe. Super minimalist, yet hard to perfect. Prepare to be blown away, especially if you like the heat of black pepper. TIP: toast your peppercorns a bit in a pan first. It mellows the “hot” heat and adds complexity. Then mortar and pestle it to perfection.

MUSIC SUGGESTIONS: "Italian Cooking Music Playlist" on Spotify...Dean Martin “Volare!” especially! You can never go wrong with Dean Martin.

About the Producer

The estate run by Maddalena CORDELLA was established in 1998 when Maddalena’s father, Orlando Cordella, transferred part of the bigger family estate to her. Heading southeast from Montalcino hill towards the village of Torrenieri, the MELETO farmhouse, with the estate’s main office, stands on a hill among green vineyards and surrounded by the Tuscan hills favored by photographers and the cypresses of the Natural and Artistic Val D’Orcia Park. The grapes grown on the estate’s vineyards since 1998 had been sold, but in 2006 Maddalena, together with her father, decided to vinify a part of the grapes produced. About 2 hectares of the carefully maintained vineyards are now assigned to winemaking. The grapes undergo thorough testing and modern agronomic practices and benefit from Maddalena’s father's experience. The Oenologist PAOLO VAGAGGINI takes care of the actual wine making. This is the reason why Maddalena decided to distinguish her Wine and the other products from her estate with her last name, so as to show the affection and passion that link her to both her family and to the territory she lives in. It is her philosophic view of running the estate, that is to say, making strict and targeted choices whether in the vineyards or in the cellars, that enables her to produce such a high-quality product, sought after by top Italian and foreign connoisseurs.
