Hundred Acre Cabernet Sauvignon Wraith 2016 - First Bottle

Reviews

100 Jeb Dunnuck -
Even better, and a perfect wine from my viewpoint, the 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Wraith is a blend of estate vineyards and spends 40 months in new French oak. As with all of Woodbridge's wines, it has an incredible sense of elegance and finesse paired with beautiful richness and depth. Deep ruby/purple, with cassis and kirsch fruits as well as stunning notes of tobacco, toast, and gravelly minerality, this is Cabernet Sauvignon at its most complex, seamless, and elegant. The tannin quality is off the charts, and this magical, full-bodied, multi-dimensional effort can be enjoyed any time over the coming 30+ years or more.

Too late, we are SOLD OUT!

Enough said! We probably don’t need to tell you about Hundred Acre’s long history of off-the-chart bottlings, or the extreme measures Woodbridge takes to ensure quality. Most famously, he has brought in helicopters to blast raindrops off of clusters at harvest time in rainy years. But did you know Hundred Acre is named after the famous Winnie The Pooh books?

What can we say? There’s not enough!

PAIRING IDEAS: Jayson Woodbridge would probably tell you to just eat a burger with his rockstar-level Cabernet.

MUSIC SUGGESTIONS: Led Zeppelin, of course, although you could be forgiven for blasting The Who, as well.

About the Producer

Proprietor and former investment banker Jayson Woodbridge bought the 3.6 hectare (9 acre) Kayli Morgan vineyard in Howel Mountain in the late 1900's, naming it for the Hundred Acre Wood from Winnie-the-Pooh. The portfolio then included the ark vineyard on Glass mountain and the Few and Far between cuvee from the historic Eisele Vineyard. The vineyards are managed so carefully that vines are pruned to one grape cluster per vine and at the winery, grapes are sorted berry by berry. Hundred Acres also makes the ancient way Shiraz from the Barossa Valley in Australia. Jayson Woodbridge also owns Layer Cake, a collection of wines from around the world at more everyday prices, also including Cherry Pie and Cherry Tart wines.
