Reviews

92 Robert Parker's Wine Advocate -
Medium ruby, the 2019 Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast offers spicy black fruits on the nose with savory and earthy undertones. The palate is bright and spicy with a finely grained texture and long, uplifted finish

Too late, we are SOLD OUT!
I used to live in Alaska, and Ed Selyem had a house there. On his 50th birthday (it was probably 1995 or so), for his surprise party, I was tasked to “go into the cellar and open one magnum of every Pinot and Chardonnay vineyard you find”. It was a glorious bacchanal of epic proportions, drinking verticals of Rochioli, Allen, Olivet...my God, at least 25 different magnums. And that was before we got into the Burgundy! Ever since that night, I've always admired these wines for their uncanny ability to be wonderfully proportioned and balanced at almost any stage of evolution.

About the Producer

Williams Selyem was created by two adventurous and passionate individuals, Burt Williams and Ed Selyem. If a grower hadn't given Burt Williams a few tons of free grapes in the 1970's, Burt might never have discovered his love and flair for winemaking. If Burt and his partner Ed Selyem, had been able to afford the French Burgundies they both favored, they might have never tried to make their own Pinot Noir. What started off as a humble project called Hacienda de Rio (which changed to Williams Selyem in 1983) has grown into a cult-status winery of international acclaim. Together, they set a new standard for American made Pinot Noir and elevated Sonoma County's Russian River Valley to among the best wine growing regions in the world.
