97-100 Jeb Dunnuck -
Read
A blend of 86% Syrah, 12% Mourvedre, and the rest Viognier, 50% destemmed, the 2018 No 7 comes from a mix of top vineyards in Santa Barbara County and will spend 22 months in 65% new French oak. Inky hued, with a killer nose of bacon fat, charcoal, ground pepper, smoked game, and both black and blue fruits, it's deep and full-bodied, offering incredible purity of fruit, building tannins, and a great finish. It's another brilliant, brilliant wine in the making that's unquestionably in the same league as the 2013, 2014, 2015, and 2016. Don't miss it.
