Chateau Pouget Margaux 2009 - First Bottle

Reviews

93-96 Wine Spectator -
Currant and blackberry galore on the nose, but the palate seems subtle and beautiful. Full-bodied, with wonderful silky tannins and a mineral, mint and berry aftertaste. Such delicious fruit here.

This wine is lush, ripe and luxuriant. This is an ALL-CAPS STELLAR wine that has serious soul. A wine that can stand toe to toe with wines like '09 Palmer or even Chateau Margaux...seriously! An extremely special wine worth every penny of $180 dollars, BUT, at our price today, this is a ridiculous bargain that only our savviest customers will discover as there are only 42 bottles available and not nearly enough for an offer. So for those lucky enough to stumble upon this gem, congrats and enjoy!

About the Producer

This medieval chateau has a storied and fascinating history, and despite having survived requisitioning during the French revolution, the reputation and quality of the wines earned it a place among the classified Bordeaux. In 1906 the Guillemet family bought the property and have managed it and its vineyards ever since. In 1932 they also acquired Chateau Boyd-Cantenac (a classified 3rd growth). Today, Lucien Guillemet stands at the helm of these great estates.
