Chateau Laroque Saint-Emilion Grand Cru 2018 - First Bottle

Reviews

97 Robert Parker's Wine Advocate -
Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2018 Laroque is a little closed to begin, slowly unfurling to reveal fragrant black cherries, wild blueberries and blackberry preserves scents with hints of crushed rocks, underbrush and violets plus a waft of Marmite toast. Full-bodied and jam-packed with bright, crunchy black and blue fruits, it has a firm line of ripe, fine-grained tannins and loads of freshness, finishing very long and layered. Impressive!

About the Producer

Chateau Laroque, with its mighty 12th century tower, is an imposing feature in the Saint-Emilion area. Located to the south of the village of Saint-Christophe-des-Bardes, the estate watches over the vast plain of Saint-Emilion. This estate has been owned by several families, each making their own contribution. The estate is one of the largest in the area with 61 hectares (151 acres) under vine. The estate is now under the ownership of Beaumartin family, which has breathed new life into the estate. The estate emerged to the rank of Grand Cru Classe in 1996. Laroque's vines are over 50 years old and form an incomparable genetic heritage, the precision and diversity of which bring about a purity of expression and authenticity in the vines.
