Evidence Cabernet Sauvignon Mt. Veeder 2017
Cabernet Blends | US
$89.95 - 750mL
HOLD. ON! You may have heard whisperings of this wine around savvy online wine forums, or from those looking for the next best thing to come out of Napa, and when you taste this you understand why. Unfortunately, this is no longer an insider's secret after a couple big-time scores from major critics. If you love the wines of Lokoya or Mayacamas, get clicking!
This is very much in the $200 Napa Cabernet style, and is a wine that stopped us in our tracks when Jason came by to show off his wares. This wine has a real old-school vibe, but still has fruit intensity and a clear sense of place with Mt. Veeder's signature bay laurel and violet aromas, swirling with black and blue berries, and wonderful all around balance. We expect this beauty to be drinking for decades to come and it reminds of us a bit of recent vintages of Mayacamas. In short, this is a must have for lovers of the classics. dark and finely tuned, full of finesse, superb balance, fine herbs and plush fruit.
Like many of us have maybe dreamed about, Jason Court DID it. He took off from his filmmaking career and jumped into harvest with his old bartender friend Chris Carpenter, fell in love with Napa and soaked it up. He even lived for 4 years AT the Lokoya winery at the top of Mount Veeder! After 7 years of tutelage, he was able to make and release his own wine, which he made at Cardinale alongside Chris, and we are stoked to have a bit to sell you -- an up-and-comer of epic proportions.
We have about 14 cases to offer at this excellent price! Free shipping on 3 or more bottles! While it lasts...!
PAIRING IDEAS: A killer cheese/meat/braised greens pizza. Cabernet loves cheese -- it smoothes the tannins and makes the fruit POP.
MUSIC SUGGESTIONS: Beastie Boys. Paul’s Boutique, probably, although Ill Communication is a good second. Basically, just put "Sabotage" on repeat.

There are a scant 200 cases of the 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Mt. Veeder, which is 92% Cabernet Sauvignon and 8% Malbec, all brought up in 80% new French oak. Harvested all pre-fire, its deep purple/ruby color is followed by a great nose of both red and blue fruits as well as notes of candied orange, violets, bouquet garni, and herbes de Provence. It’s a beauty aromatically and hits the palate with medium to full-bodied richness, ultra-fine tannins, and a great finish. The 2017 Vintage was difficult for the valley, but you’d never know it by tasting this beauty. Enjoy bottles any time over the coming two decades.

Picked on October 2, 2017—just about a week before the wildfires in the area—this comes from a site at 1,600-feet in elevation. Thick in grippy tannin, it is cofermented with 8% Malbec and aged 20 months in 80% new French oak. Dried herb, toast and tangy red currant combine across a complex palate that should age with ease; enjoy best from 2027–2035
