Vieux Chateau Brun Pomerol 2015 - First Bottle

Reviews

92 James Suckling -
Some very attractive aromas of violets and dark cherries here. The palate has suave, smooth, ripe tannins and good concentration. Holds long and smooth. Drink or hold.

Too late, we are SOLD OUT!

TBH, we weren't familiar with this particular Chateau when we lined it up. But, this wine absolutely crushed some other Right Bank competition (we won't name names, but they were all twice the price of or more) in a blind tasting we did here at the Napa office. Beautiful ruby red color with purple reflections. The scintillating scents are rich in black fruit, saddle leather, flowers and red cherries. In the mouth, the wine is well-structured, nicely concentrated and harmonious with soft tannins that result in a long, persistent finish.

Normally $40, we think this is a huge no-brainer for lovers of the rare Pomerol wines. Really quite amazing. We have about 30 cases to sell --- this WILL go fast!

About the Producer

Roughly translating to the "old brown castle" this is one of the last wines made at Château La Ganne. This Château has been run for four generations by the Dubois-Lachaud family of winegrowers. The vineyard covers just under 10 acres. The blend is typically 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc and the entire vineyard is currently undergoing organic conversion. The soil consists of gravel, sand and silt. The vines have an average age of 30 years.
