The 2019 Bedrock Heritage Wine is a tough wine to read today. It is quite tannic and closed, but also does not appear to be quite as powerful or heavy as it can be, which in my view is a positive. Size and weight come so naturally at Bedrock that the wines can at times be a little too much of a good thing. I hope to have a chance to taste the 2019 again in the future, as it is in no mood to show its cards today.

The '19s are some of the best we've ever tasted from Morgan, combining purity of fruit, minerality and freshness in deftly balanced wines. The 2019 from the historic Bedrock vineyard that Morgan purchased with his father Joel (of Ravenswood fame) is built to impress. From vines planted in the 19th century by a Civil War general, the old vine intensity is palpable on first whiff and taste. The wines of Morgan Peterson remain some of the most exciting wines produced in California year in and year out.

About the Producer

Bedrock Wine Company is founded by Morgan Twain Peterson, son of Joel Peterson, founder of Ravenswood Winery. Morgan has works tirelessly to source, and sometimes restore, California's Heritage vineyards, some dating back to the late 1800s. He has established an exquisite reputation for producing truly exceptional wines from these historic sites and has been a champion for the underdog varietals and growing regions. He may be one of the most influential young vignerons in the United States.
