Poesia Saint Emilion Grand Cru 2016 - First Bottle

Reviews

96 Jeb Dunnuck -
A blend of 70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Franc, the 2016 Chateau Poesia is more open and showy compared to the Barde Haut, offering fabulous limestone-like character in its kirsch and currant fruits and notes of dried herbs, white truffle, and dried flowers. Possessing medium to full body, ripe, present tannins, terrific concentration, and a great finish, it's another incredibly classy Saint Emilion from the Garcin-Leveque family.
94 Robert Parker's Wine Advocate -
The 2016 Poesia is a blend of 70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Franc. Deep garnet-purple, the nose delivers vibrant Black Forest cake, redcurrants and Morello cherries notes with touches of cinnamon stick, rose hip tea, pencil shavings, tobacco and milk chocolate. The medium-bodied palate charges out of the gate with bright red berries layers and loads of herbal sparks, framed by rock-solid, ripe, grainy tannins and bold freshness, finishing very long. It should offer very good aging potential.
94 James Suckling -
Subtle aromas of mint, bay leaf and dark berries follow through to a full body with chewy and polished tannins and a tight, structured finish. Extremely long and firm. Give this at least another four or five years to soften and come together. Try after 2023.
93 Vinous -
The 2016 Poesia is a plush, deep Saint-Émilion endowed with quite a bit of textural richness. Dark raspberry jam, cloves, menthol, plum and rose petal all flesh out in a sumptuous, open-knit Saint-Émilion that will drink well right out of the gate. The 2016 is not especially complex, but it is quite delicious and easy to like. Poesia is Hélène Garcin and Patrice Leveque's wine from Saint Émilion's St. Etienne de Lys sector.

Too late, we are SOLD OUT!

Not a typo, that’s right. Poesia’s gorgeous, concentrated Right Bank blockbuster at a head-spinner of a price - from the same family that owns Château Clos L’Eglise in Pomerol. Don’t forget 2016 is EPIC in Bordeaux! Will go fast…

We’ve been huge fans of Helene Garcin’s wines for years now -- the Bordeaux properties, Château Haut-Bergey, Château Branon, Château d'Arce, and Château Clos L’Eglise in Pomerol, plus the terrific Argentinian property also called Poesia. The family has turned these properties around in the last decade and they are now some of the top in the region. Poesia is one of the newest acquisitions within the Garcin holdings. A few years ago, the couple purchased Château Haut Villet, a neglected estate, and renamed it Château Poesia – ("Poetry" in English). The property consists of 13.2 hectares (32.6 acres) and is ideally situated on the limestone plateau.

2016, of course, is special - as is our price. It’s truly amazing to have a wine at this level for $39.95 and FREE SHIPPING on 3 or more. Wow!

Please don’t miss! We only have 23 cases to sell (we bought the other cases for OUR cellars!). While it lasts!

About the Producer

Helene Garcin owns some key properties in Bordeaux, among them Clos L'Eglise in Pomerol and the sumptuous wines of Branon in Graves and Poesia in Saint-Emilion. She also owns a beautiful old-vine property in Argentina under the same name, Poesia. While Helene may be best known for her work in Pomerol, her newer Saint-Emilion property is on a roll right now and is destined for greatness.
