Mount Langi Ghiran Cliff Edge Shiraz 2015 - First Bottle

Reviews

96 James Halliday's Australian Wine Companion -
Hand-picked, whole berries and whole bunches small batch open-fermented, larger concrete fermenters at the original winery also included for extended maceration on skins for 2 weeks, matured for 19 months in French oak (27% new). Both bouquet and medium-bodied palate offer a tapestry of black fruits, spices and black pepper, tannins woven through the succulent, juicy black fruits, French oak there or thereabouts, and fine lingering tannins.
92 Vinous -
(30 percent new French oak) Bright violet. Potent, mineral-accented dark berry, cola and licorice scents are complemented by hints of allspice, mocha and candied flowers. Fleshy and appealingly sweet, offering concentrated cassis, cherry-vanilla and violet pastille flavors that are underscored by a vein of smoky minerality. Displays excellent depth and energy and shows impressive focus on the long, sweet finish, which is framed by smooth, harmonious tannins.

Mount Langi Ghiran Cliff Edge Shiraz 2015

Syrah Blends  |  Australia

Too late, we are SOLD OUT!

Man is it coming down this morning...and we freakin' love the rain! And we're bringing the thunder from down under today! Your humble scribe remembers selling Mount Langi’s amazing wine in Alaska of all places, back in the early 90s. They were fantastic wines back then, and even more polished and delicious now. What we love about this wine and the winery style in general is it’s judicious use of oak, and more emphasis on structure and complexity, showcasing Victoria's cool-climate. There’s a wonderful mineral component and energy as well, which makes this just a FLAT-OUT, mind-boggling STEAL of a deal at this price. Definitely what we’d call “case-worthy”!!

6-pack w/free shipping: $119.70!! For a 96-pointer? C’mon!

Load up! We are. Rich, pure, savory and just rocking right out of the gate. We only have a handful of cases however….FIRST COME, FIRST SERVED! In stock AS ALWAYS!

About the Producer

With imposing, rugged cliff faces casting shadows across ancient vine plantings, Mount Langi Ghiran is set against the dramatic backdrop of the Great Dividing Range in the Grampians region of Victoria. The Mount Langi Ghiran (Aboriginal for home of the yellow-tailed black cockatoo) vineyard is one of the most isolated and unique sites in Australian viticulture.
