The creation of the Heresztyn-Mazzini marks the beginning of a new adventure for Florence, from Burgundy, and Simon, from Champagne. After ten years spent working on the family vineyard in Gevrey-Chambertin, the couple decided to start their own venture. The gorgeous “Clos Village” bottling comes from a small half acre plot owned by the Domaine, located in a special clos (walled vineyard) in the center of Gevrey-Chambertin, from vines planted in 1960. 50% whole cluster fermented, and aged 18 months in mostly used barrels. This is beautifully proportioned, classically styled Burgundy. There are plenty of ripe red and blue fruits laced in florals, but the velvety texture and intense minerality is what really sets this apart. There’s a distinctive incense and spice component that is the signature of this groovy little vineyard. In short, this is like Sommelier catnip that you will not regret having in your arsenal. While it lasts!

About the Producer

The creation of the Heresztyn-Mazzini vineyard marks the beginning of a new adventure for Florence, from Burgundy, and Simon, from Champagne. After ten years spent working on the family vineyard in Gevrey-Chambertin, the couple decided to start their own venture. The estate currently covers 5.5 hectares spread across the villages of Gevrey-Chambertin, Morey-Saint-Denis, and Chambolle-Musigny. 2012 saw the first vintage from Heresztyn-Mazzini, an estate specializing in fine Burgundy red wines.
