Marques del Real Tesoro Tio Mateo Fino Sherry NV - First Bottle

Reviews

91 Robert Parker's Wine Advocate -
The NV Tio Mateo Fino, which means Uncle Matthew, is produced from Palomino grapes grown on albariza soils, aged under yeast for six years, and is the winery?s flagship wine. It shows a light straw color, and a reticent, somewhat fruity nose depicting a relatively young wine. It probably needs some air to open up; sometimes the bottling has this effect on the wines. The palate is fuller, with balanced acidity and finesse, intense, with a pleasant, long, dry, bitter finish.

About the Producer

Marques del Real Tesoro is an old winery created in 1904, but whose modern history starts in 1982, when it was purchased by Jose Estevez, a native Jerezano who had made his fortune in the mining business and is in love with Sherry wine. He had owned a small almacenista for some time, but the purchase of Marques del Real Tesoro was the beginning of the Grupo Estevez which now also includes wineries like Valdespino and La Guita, and a total of 800 hectares of vineyards, which makes them one of the largest vineyard owners in the Marco de Jerez.
