Yering Station Estate Pinot Noir Yarra Valley 2017 - First Bottle

Reviews

96 James Halliday -
Hand-picked MV6 clone, open-fermented, matured in French puncheons (23% new) for 11 months. Light, clear and bright hue; a spicy fragrant cherry blossom bouquet pulls back the curtains of a finely structured and balanced red cherry/wild strawberry palate. Superfine tannins and oak provide the texture and length of a lovely pinot.

Seriously...$137.70 a 6-pack! With free ground shipping! I love it. This is crazy complex and wildly drinkable pinot -- and it is surprisingly elegant, perfumey, and finessed. I shouldn’t be surprised, I suppose, Yering Station IS one of the jewels of the Yarra Valley. Established in 1838 (!) and now owned by the Rathbone family, this is truly one of the great values on earth!! We bought every case we could find, but at this price, it will FLY. Get it before your neighbor does!!

Did we mention 96 points?! First come, first served…

PAIRING IDEAS: It’s Australia! They eat a LOT of killer Pan-Asian food down under and this is perfect with the stir fry of your choice, as long as you have some soy in it (that salt makes the pinot fruit pop).

MUSIC SUGGESTIONS: Too easy to say AC/DC but we’ll go with the theme and say WOLFMOTHER. Better hold on, though, these guys shred hard.

About the Producer

Yering Station was established in 1838 by the pioneering Ryrie brothers who adopted the Aboriginal name “Yering” for their new station. In 1996 the Rathbone family purchased the property drawn to its natural beauty, history and the great promise of its wines.

Today Yering Station is one of the jewels of the Yarra Valley region, attracting tourists and wine enthusiasts from around the globe. Recognized for its landmark winery/restaurant complex, the building sits harmoniously within the landscape of heritage architecture and the beautiful vineyards from which our winemakers craft award winning wines.
