Elevee Pinot Noir Madrona Vineyard Chehalem Mountains 2016 - First Bottle

Reviews

93 Vinous -
Shimmering ruby-red. An expansive, spice-accented bouquet displays lively red/dark berry qualities, along with suggestions of mocha, savory herbs and potpourri. Sweet and energetic on the palate, offering concentrated black raspberry, cherry-cola and star anise flavors that are braced by a spine of juicy acidity. Shows excellent clarity and spicy thrust on a very long, gently tannic finish that strongly echoes the cherry and floral notes. (30% new French oak)
93 Wine Enthusiast -
The herbal components really shine here, finessing the firm black cherry fruit with a panoply of Italian spices. Complex and detailed, as are Élevée's other 2016 Pinots, it's a savory style, anchored in its dark fruits and finishing with a touch of barrel spice from 30% new oak. Drink now through the 2020s.
91 Wine Spectator -
Precise and appealingly brooding, blending black and red fruit, laced with orange peel, stony mineral and clove flavors that build toward buffed yet refined tannins. Best after 2019. 300 cases made.

Normally $50+! We scored a little parcel of this delicious, savory, deep wine at a spectacular price -- but we only have about 16 cases! As you savvy pinot-philes probably know, 2016 in Oregon is fantastic - the wines are deep, intense and richly flavored while maintaining the freshness and acidity we love. So it was easy to jump on this terrific single-vineyard offering from Elevee at this price! Probably the richest, most powerful wine in the lineup, we loved its killer nose and velvety structure. At $39.95???! You will too!

Just $239.70 a 6-PACK delivered! First come, first served!

About the Producer

Elevee Winegrowers is a "Study In Terroir", focused on exploring the distinct flavors of the Willamette Valley's diverse Appellations. We believe that a wine is shaped equally by one's growing and winemaking choices. In fact, we feel they are one and the same. After years of growing and crafting wines for others in Burgundy, Napa Valley, New Zealand, and here in Oregon, we were presented with an opportunity to bring our idea to life when Archery Summit's Gary Andrus decided to sell a very special, high density site in the Dundee Hills that he had planted in 1998. We scrimped, saved, and sacrificed to purchase it, and named it Elevee Vineyard. In 2016, we began directing the farming on two additional, diverse sites in the Chehalem Mountains and Eola-Amity Hills. Farmed by us, we craft wines that express the unique personality of each site and distinct influence of each vintage, to showcase the diversity, range, and beauty of Willamette Valley Terroir.
