Xavier Vins Chateauneuf du Pape Rouge Ange 2001 - First Bottle

Reviews

96 Jeb Dunnuck -
Blended in 2010 and bottle in 2019, aged in barrels always submerged in wine, the 2001 Châteauneuf Du Pape Ange sports a still youthful ruby color as well as a beautiful bouquet of cured meats, ground pepper, tobacco, white truffle, and spice. Rich, medium to full-bodied, and beautifully textured, it's multi-dimensional, layered, and elegant, with a Bonneau-like complexity and style. This is a thrilling wine.

You’ve NEVER had a wine like this. Blended in 2010 and the barrels are submerged in tanks full of wine (yes you read that right). You’ll be one of the few on Earth to own this rarity! Wow! Best USA price, too! “This is a thrilling wine.” - Jeb Dunnuck. We have a great relationship with super-consultant in the Rhone, Xavier Vignon. You’ve tasted some of our offerings over the years and know what a brilliant winemaker he is. This is a one-of-kind bottling called “Ange” that is all rigorously selected 2001 harvest, blended in 2010, and then the barrels are literally submerged in wine in large steel tanks for another 9 years. Crazy, it seems, but CRAZY COOL! This technique creates a wine frozen in time, tasting much younger than it is, with insane youthfulness, rich, dark, sweet fruit and percolating complexity. Utterly captivating stuff -- wow! We are blown away to have a few cases!

Not $120, not $99...$89.95!! Seriously, if you love high-end Chateauneuf, this is a great story and a fascinating, terrific wine. ONLY 10 CASES!
