Terre Nere Brunello di Montalcino 2012 (Magnum 1.5L) - First Bottle

Reviews

93 James Suckling -
Aromas of roses and fresh mushrooms follow through to a medium body and dense fruit and tannin structure. Lovely cherry aftertaste. A complex and attractive 2012 Brunello. Drink or hold.
92 Wine Enthusiast -
Fragrant and refined, this offers aromas of Mediterranean brush, rosemary, violet, woodland berry and a whiff of dark spice. The juicy savory palate gives layers of succulent wild cherry, black raspberry, clove and star anise while polished tannins provide a lithe framework. Drink through 2022.

About the Producer

The Terre Nere estate stretches over 37 acres, at an elevation of 840 feet, 6 miles south-east of Montalcino. The vineyards are nestled in a setting of rare beauty, surrounded by pristine forests and where there is a micro climate ideal for vine cultivation. All the vineyards are in hilly areas and enjoy excellent sun exposure while being embraced by a constantly blowing breeze provided by Monte Amiata and Monte Nero. The Orcia river flows in the valley below the vines, moderating the temprature of a hot season. The dark terrain is composed of galestro, a mixture of loose marl and limestone. Galestro guarantees good drainage and forces the vines to sink their roots deep into the soil which results in healthy maturation of the grapes. The special dark galestro soil gives the winery its name "Terre Nere".
