Skinner Grenache El Dorado 2016 - First Bottle

Reviews

92 Wine and Spirits Magazine -
Fruit from vines at a wide range of altitudes, from 1,300 to 3,000 feet, focusing mostly on grapes from Fenaughty and Sumu Kaw. This wine comes across as light and brisk, with a texture that’s just generous enough to mellow the cool spiciness and floral strawberry flavors. Fresh and pretty, it’s a lovely match for chicken liver mousse or most anything on a charcuterie plate.

$19.95 for the last bottle in stock! One of our favorite under-the-radar Grenache producers in California!

Skinner is one of our very favorite producers for Rhone varietals in California. There is so much flavor packed into a relatively lightly extracted wine, packed with freshness and floral goodness with just enough density and texture to remind you of it's spiritual home in the Rhone. From high elevation sites (1,000 to 3,000 feet in elevation) in the Sierra Foothills, these guys just know how to step out of the way and let the vineyards shine.

About the Producer

The legacy of Skinner Vineyards and its wine goes back more than a century and a half with the Skinner Ranch, discovered by luck while thumbing through a map. Kevin and Kathy Skinner discovered that Kevin's great great great grandfather settled this lush spot after striking gold and planted the areas first vineyard. In 2006 Kevin and Kathy purchased the property and planted their own vineyard. They began building the latest stage of the family legacy: the now acclaimed Skinner Vineyards & Winery.
