Orin Swift Red Papillon 2015 - First Bottle

Reviews

94 Robert Parker's The Wine Advocate -
Very deep purple-black colored, the 2015 Papillon Proprietary Red features expressive créme de cassis, mulberries, plum preserves and chocolate box notes with wafts of underbrush, dried herbs and Indian spices. Full-bodied, rich, opulent and spicy in the mouth, it has a velvety texture and seamless freshness, finishing long with a lively pepper and herbs lift.
93 Wine Spectator -
A big, rich and potent style, with layers of flavors extending from black licorice to dark berry, loamy earth, cedar and tobacco. Unfolds impressively on the palate, smooth and effortless. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot, Malbec and Cabernet Franc. Drink now through 2029.

Orin Swift Red Papillon 2015

Too late, we are SOLD OUT!

Cabernet from Dave Phinney (The Prisoner) at $359.70 DELIVERED for a lovely 6-pack?! Sign us up!

Did you know? French for “butterfly,” Phinney first heard the term when his daughter saw a butterfly and said the word out loud. A Cabernet-based blend, the grapes come from Howell Mountain, Rutherford, Oakville and St. Helena. The image—photographed by Greg Gorman—shows the hands of Vince Tofanelli, a third-generation grapegrower.

There is little we can say about Dave and the Orin-Swift brand that he built that you don’t already know, but we CAN attest to the lush, hedonistic quality of the 2015 Papillon (a great vintage), because we have been drinking it for the last hour and MAN! This is definitely not something for the faint of heart --- we are talking BLACK, deep, ripe, spicy, opulent, mouthcoating stuff in the style you have come to expect from Dave. Pedal to the metal!

Just a handful of 6-packs! $359.70 ALL IN. While they last!

About the Producer

The iconoclast, visionary and wine mogul, Dave Phinney started Orin Swift in 1998, Orin is his father's middle name and Swift is his mother's maiden name. With two tons of zinfandel and not much else, he spent the next decade making wine for others as well as himself and grew the brand to what it is today.
