Calera Pinot Noir Jensen Vineyard 2008 - First Bottle

Reviews

94 Vinous -
The 2008 Pinot Noir Jensen Vineyard is another very pretty and expressive wine. Floral and savory notes meld into a core of open-knit fruit. Sensual and inviting, the 2008 has enough aromatic complexity to provide plenty of of interest, while the firm tannins suggest the 2008 will drink well for another decade-plus. This is one of the more delicate, gracious wines in this vertical. Like all the best Calera wines, the 2008 speaks to balance above all else. -- Antonio Galloni in VINOUS, September 2015

Too late, we are SOLD OUT!
A legend! Calera Jensen! The double 94-point 2008 Jensen is still a baby right now (we're just getting around to drinking our 80s Jensens) but considering that we got this direct from the pristine winery cellars, it should be in the cellar of every serious pinot noir drinker. Pure, minerally, with killer acidity, these wines might be mistaken for Burgundy!

About the Producer

Calera's wines truly express a sense of place. Rather than follow the recommended path, Josh Jensen became a pioneer in American Pinot Noir. Taking his cue from the great domaines of Burgundy, which have grown grapes in limestone soil for centuries, he set out in search of the perfect spot in California to create wines unique to the world but in the style of the greatest wines of France. Site selection was vital as he ventured off the grid to plant on the site of an old limekiln in the Gavilan Mountains of California's Central Coast. Today Calera wines still express that pioneer spirit and are revered the world over. 'Calera is one of the most compelling Pinot Noir specialists of not only the New World, but of Planet Earth.' - Robert Parker
