Domaine de la Milliere Chateauneuf du Pape La Bessade 2015 - First Bottle

Reviews

94 Robert Parker's The Wine Advocate -
Produced from 100-year-old Grenache grown on sandy soils and matured in demi-muids, the 2015 Chateauneuf du Pape La Bessade is a grippingly tannic wine, but the dark plum, cola and spice notes never let up, gradually growing in intensity across the palate and leaving behind a mouthwatering finish of fresh fruit, clove and allspice. Give it another few years in the cellar. -- Joe Czerwinski in Issue #233, OCT 2017

What were you doing 100 years ago? Well, Milliere was planting grapes, the very same you will have as soon as you pop the cork. This is a sinlgle parcel planted in pure sand. 100% grenache and 100% delicious! 94 points, and a big, brawny, blue/black style. BIG! Bold! Great price, too!

About the Producer

It was in the 1940's that Fernand Arnaud bought La Milliere. At that time on the estate, vineyards were side by side with fruit orchards. At the age of 14, Aime, Fernand's son, decided to devote his life to vines and wine. Over time, Aime, aided by his father's advice, transformed La Milliere, making the estate fully dedicated to growing grapes. For him, his vocation was laid out: he would be a grower and winemaker. Michel, Aime's son, took over La Milliere in 1983, making him the 5th generation of Arnaud vinegrower-winemakers. Since then, Michel has continued to apply the knowledge handed down to him by his parents and grandparents. In his footsteps comes Vincent, his eldest son, who has just joined the estate. He continues the family history that has been at the heart of La Milliere for many decades.
