Fontodi Chianti Classico 2014 - First Bottle

Reviews

93 James Suckling -
A red with berry, chili powder and spice that follows through to a full body, juicy fruit and a flavorful finish. Fontodi doesn't miss a stride in this difficult vintage. Excellent. Drink now.
92 Vinous -
Fontodi`s 2014 Chianti Classico is one of the most finessed vintages of this wine in recent memory. The combination of the cool growing conditions and a move toward larger oak casks has resulted in a deep yet translucent wine of notable pedigree and class. There is plenty of the typical Panzano richness, but less of the overt weight that has characterized some recent vintages. -- Antonio Galloni, Jan 2018
92 Wine Enthusiast -
Made with organically grown Sangiovese, this elegantly structured red offers enticing aromas of woodland berry, exotic spice and wild herb. Vibrant and savory, the medium-bodied, youthfully austere palate boasts tart cherry, wild raspberry, clove and licorice supported by bright acidity and taut, refined tannins. It's already tempting but will be even better in a few years. Drink 2019–2026.

Too late, we are SOLD OUT!
We have a serious bromance with vintner Giovanni Manetti. We first met him at Dario Cecchini's butcher shop and restaurant in Panzano, over an all meat lunch (Giovanni provides many of the cattle), and were enamored with his suave demeanor and his contagious passion for wine. Since then, our cellars have always had a spot for Fontodi.

$179.70 a 6-pack DELIVERED. Your humble scribe is shaking his head in happy disbelief!! Wow! We LOVE Fontodi Chianti Classico ---a winery that can pretty much do NO WRONG!

Drink this every day. Well, at least once a week! Fontodi is located in Panzano and in an area called the "Conca d’Oro" (the golden shell) because of its amphitheater shape which the winery overlooks. It’s a very distinctive terroir, with galestro soils, and it remians one of the highest regarded growing sites in all of Chianti as it has been for centuries.

We couldn't agree more with Antonio Galloni's recent statements about Fontodi's Chianti Classico. "To be frank, it is better than the top wine at a number of estates." Seriously though...it's true!

You can read all the glowing reviews by clicking "buy now", but this organically-grown Sangiovese will satisfiy your every craving for Tuscan brilliance, happy-making, freshness and finesse, in our book.
