Domaine la Bastide Saint Dominique Chateauneuf du Pape Les Hesperides 2015 - First Bottle

Reviews

96 Jeb Dunnuck -
Like the 2016, the 2015 Chateauneuf-du-Pape Les Hesperides is an even split of Grenache and Mourvedre, from the les Bedines lieu-dit (100% sandy soils), that was completely destemmed and brought up mostly in stainless steel, with 20% in demi-muids. It`s a brilliant wine that offers lots of meaty, spice, licorice nuances, tons of blackberry and black raspberry fruit, full-bodied richness, sweet tannin and a blockbuster finish. It`s up with the creme de la creme of the vintage and will keep for two decades.
93 Robert Parker's Wine Advocate -
All of the special cuvées from this estate are stellar in 2015. The 2015 Chateauneuf du Pape les Hesperides is 50% Grenache and 50% Mourvèdre, from the sand and safre soils of the Les Bedines lieu-dit. With 20% of the wine aged in demi-muids, you may be able to detect some subtle hints of vanilla and baking spices, but what's more remarkable is the combination of nectarine and plum fruit, rich, velvety tannins and the long, layered, chocolaty finish that shows no sign of alcoholic heat.

Too late, we are SOLD OUT!
We first tasted this wine in the village of Avignon (near Chateauneuf)  from a sommelier who recommended it. This 96-pointer is about 50% Mourvedre, which gives it more power and masculinity while remaining ultra-sexy and fascinating to drink.

About the Producer

Located at the heart of the Southern Rhone Valley, a stone's throw away from Chteauneuf du Pape, La Bastide Saint Dominique estate enjoys optimal climate with the unique Mistral wind and very hot and dry summers. Built around a former 16th century chapel, the estate was created by Marie-Claude and Gerard Bonnet with only a handful of hectares. With strong commitment and passion, the Bonnets have expanded the estate to a total area of 50 hectares. Since 1999, their son Eric has been working with them and the wines are truly better than ever.
