Gran Moraine Pinot Noir Yamhill Carlton 2015 - First Bottle

Reviews

91 Vinous -
(41% new French oak) Lurid red. Oak-tinged raspberry, cherry and candied rose scents, along with cola and vanilla notes that build steadily with air. Smooth and broad on the palate, offering sweet cherry-vanilla and spicecake flavors that firm up on the back half. The vanilla note carries through a long, spice-tinged finish given shape by supple, harmonious tannins.
91 Robert Parker's Wine Advocate -
Medium ruby-purple colored, 2015 Pinot Noir Yamhill-Carlton delivers a lot of red berry/raspberry expression with underlying menthol, dried herbs and tree bark notes. Medium-bodied, the palate offers a great concentration of juicy red fruit flavors with a solid backbone of grainy tannins and great freshness, finishing long.

Can you say SAVORY! Wow! A newcomer for us, this pinot blazes across the palate with killer Oregon acidity, backed up with the richness of the 2015 vintage, making a brilliant wine with super-bright cherry/raspberry fruit and mint. Superb at this price!

About the Producer

Gran Moraine takes its name from cataclysmic floods that occurred in the northern Willamette Valley of Oregon during the last ice age. Glaciers receded and released a torrent of water from the once giant Lake Missoula. It left behind rock outcroppings that are scattered throughout their vineyard in Yamhill Carlton. These rocks were once part of the giant glacial dam's moraine, what they coined the "Gran Moraine." The wines of Gran Moraine are pure expressions of the old marine soils of Yamhill.
